Former TSO Music Director Jukka-Pekka Saraste presents a powerful program featuring two monumental works. First, immerse yourself in the lush, lyrical beauty of Brahms’s Symphony No. 3, which balances moments of fiery passion with serene tranquility. Then, experience Mozart’s haunting Requiem, his unfinished final masterpiece, famously featured in the film Amadeus. The profound emotions of this unforgettable work are brought to life by the voices of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and four exceptional soloists.

You’re invited to a lively symphonic soirée featuring whimsical and well-loved works—a program great for first-timers! Mozart’s gracefully animated Violin Concerto No. 3 complements Rossini’s famed overture to The Barber of Seville, which audiences will instantly recognize from television and film. The performance also includes Johann Strauss II’s spirited overture to Die Fledermaus, which will have you waltzing in your seat, and Stravinsky’s playful Jeu de cartes, adding an extra touch of mischief to this enchanting program.

Raise a glass to a vibrant new season! The evening begins with the Canadian première of Carlos Simon's Wake Up!, a powerful and evocative work that challenges listeners to engage with the world around them. Following this, Spotlight Artist and Canadian piano sensation Jan Lisiecki joins Concertmaster Jonathan Crow and Principal Cello Joseph Johnson for Beethoven’s captivating Triple Concerto, a piece that shines a light on three soloists. Finally, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition invites you on an imaginative stroll through an art gallery, each note echoing the brush strokes of a different painting. Before the concert and during intermission, explore our lobby display featuring the paintings that inspired Mussorgsky’s work, complete with insights on how each piece connects to the music you’ll hear.
